Tips to hire a house keeper.
There may come a time when you are ready to hire a professional house cleaner. Whatever kind of help you hire from an independent self-employed cleaner to a franchised service, ask around before you hire. Friends, family, neighbors and even co-workers are the best people to ask for recommendations.

You have the recommendation (make sure you mention your friend when you call) , now make that call. Use the check list of points below when calling the professionals for consideration.

*What equipment do they supply? Are you expected to supply any of the cleaning agents? If so, what?

*Get a guaranteed price if they are giving you a quote over the phone. Request an in home estimate if possible. In home estimates are more accurate.

*Do they work in teams of two or more? If so, is there a supervisor on duty at all times. Teams of two or more can clean quicker, resulting in a lower fee if they charge by the hour.

*Get a detailed listing of exactly what is included in the service. Do you have to pay any extra for other services? Do they do "special" cleanings for holidays and other events?

*Can you select the day they come? Can this be changed according to your schedule or is it set in stone?

*Are they bonded or insured against theft or damage of any kind?

Whomever you choose, make sure you watch the first few cleanings very carefully. Point out any mistakes you see immediately. Mistakes can be corrected only if they are know about. Let them know if they are doing a great job. Leave a nice note when they are expected. Even include a nice treat with the note like a piece of candy or special coupon. If you are not happy with the service, fire them and tell them why. Then move on and find somebody you do like.
